Art Club FAQs

When you join Art Club, we work on completing uniquely curated art projects that help develop and advance your skills with mediums you are currently familiar with and also learn about art materials that you might not be familiar with so that you can expand your repertoire. We also work on building a portfolio, collaborative projects within our club and with others such as Drama Club! Art Club members are always welcome to request certain projects or materials they would like to explore. Independent study at home outside of Art Club is always encouraged!
Ms. Adkins, your Smyrna Middle School's very own visual arts teacher! :D

Also, Ms. Perry is helping out this year! :D
Any student grades 6 - 8 at Smyrna Middle School who is super interested and invested in art!
Art Club will be meeting on Thursdays!
Yes, there will! You can find this schedule posted by the door to Ms. Adkins's classroom and on the Art Club page titled 'Meeting Schedule'. A hard copy will also be printed and given to members.
I hope you won't miss any meetings! But I understand if you need to miss occasionally for other events. Attendance will be taken at every meeting.
Art Club is by INVITATION ONLY. Applications will be open until September 6th, 2023. You MUST turn in both an application and a CLUB PERMISSION FORM to be considered. Club Permission Forms may be picked up from Ms. Adkins's room (301).
For now, Ms. Adkins asks that you upload some of your artwork on the application.
Unfortunately, no. There is usually a very large number of students who want to be in Art Club. Ms. Adkins genuinely wishes that everyone could be part of Art Club! But, due to limitations, only 20 students will be selected to join. Any student not chosen will be kept on a list of interested students. If a student that is chosen decides to quit for any reason, Ms. Adkins will contact students on the waiting list.
Not at this time. New "team" stores will be available this year to purchase the Art Club t-shirt online. That way, if you don't want a shirt you don't have to order one, OR if a family member also wants a shirt they will be available to purchase more than one! :)
Art Club will collaborate with the Drama Club to help create the set and props for their shows. We will also do a collaborative artwork. However, students are free to explore project ideas of their own while in art club.
