YOUR KEYBOARDING ASSIGNMENTS.

3.  Click on typing.com.

4.  Complete all lessons with a white bar.  When you have finished an assignment, the bar turns green.

5.  Grades are recorded automatically if you log in correctly by the above procedures.

Hello and welcome to Keyboarding/Computer Literacy 

COURSE DESCRIPTION: 

This 9-week course is designed to help students develop the following:

 

TECH READINESS

 

Computer Basics

What Makes a Computer Run
Using a Mouse
Computer Lab Rules
 

Internet Basics

Surfing Safety
Cyber Safety
Online Behavior
Email Rules and Manners
Internet Search Tips
 

Typing.com through Clever

Students will develop proper technique for typing which includes ergonomics.  In addition, these classes focuses on accuracy. The speed will come while the technique and accuracy skills are developed.  Technique and accuracy are the most important skills to develop.

 

Office 365 

PowerPoint will be introduced followed by Word. 

After students are introduced and learn basic PowerPoint, they will do research on a different browser other than Google so they learn other browsers are available.  After learning the basics of Word, they will use the same information to write a paper using Word.

 

6th grade will research 4 BIOMES

Create a presentation that describes 4 different biomes.  Include at least three organisms from each biome and a description of the climate.

 

7th grade will research 4 CELL ORGANELLES

Create a presentation that describes 4 cell organelles.  Include a picture of each organelle, its function, and what the organelle would be if the cell was a city.

 

8th grade will research PERIODIC TABLE – 4 ELEMENTS.

Create a presentation that describes 4 elements from the periodic table of elements.  Include at least 2 ways the element is used in the real world, the atomic mass, the atomic number, and the group\family name of the element.

 

COURSE LEARNING TARGETS:

Basic computer and technology vocabulary and usage. 

  • Navigation through the Windows operating system environment. 
  • Creating and working with files, folders and icons, and saving and retrieving documents. 
  • Basic keyboarding and keypad skills by using an online typing program. 
  • Office 365 - Focus will be on PowerPoint and Word. Onedrive and Outlook will also be used. 
  • Basic Internet usage skills, focusing on proper use of search engines, and Internet safety.

Countywide grading policy:
A  90-100
B  80 - 89
C  70 - 79
D  60 - 69
F    0 - 59
