Purpose: Help middle schools students discover, affirm and explore their talents so that they can make more informed decisions about their high school coursework and future careers.
Grade Level/Class: 8th grade
Description: Youscience is an online 5 aptitude assessment & 60 question interest survey.
Use of Data: Measures some aptitudes that are most critical in determining career success in Numerical reasoning, Sequential Reasoning, Spatial Visualization, Timeframe Orientation and Visual Comparison Speed. Gives students personalized career field matching with in depth information about careers within the field including salary, projected openings and education requirements.
Where do I start with Career Exploration before 8th grade/or in conjunction with youscience?
How do you research careers? Education plays a big part of what career you will have. Some jobs require a master's degree or even a doctorate. Other jobs would prefer you to have had apprenticeships and work experience. Another factor to consider is what you are interested in and what you are good at. Your counselor can help but there are also websites and apps out there that can aid your process.
